Remarkable Lives

In addition to taping the life stories of people who are nearing the end of their lives, LifeChronicles offers ‘Remarkable Lives’ videotaping of people who’ve lived interesting lives who would like to make a tape of their life before age or declining health sets in.

The Remarkable Lives program provides a professionally edited DVD that includes photos, video clips, etc., and is done in a location of your choice. The videos typically run 60-90 minutes, capturing the best of your memories, accomplishments and wisdom.

To help us honor requests for videotaping at no cost to people who are at the end of life or in a terminal illness, these Remarkable Lives videos are done at break-even cost if you will make a donation to help make it possible for a free videotape to be made of someone who is nearing life’s end.

A Remarkable Lives videotape creates a lasting testament of your legacy in a ‘My Dinner with Andre’ type videotaped conversation of you recollecting and reflecting on your life’s experiences and learnings. At the same time, you help a person who’s at the end of life be able to leave behind a videotape of them similar to ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’. And as a 501(c) nonprofit organization, LifeChronicles offers you a chance both to get something good and do something good (& tax-free) for someone.

We also offer university alumni associations a way to enable you to honor your alumni with a ‘Remarkable Lives’ video taping program at no cost to you and at break-even cost to the alum if they make a donation to LifeChronicles to fund its free end-of-life video tapings.

We provide the Remarkable Lives program, name, training, oversight, quality assurance, technical support and the credibility of LifeChronicles’ 15 years and 1,000 videotaping experience to enable you to offer the service to your alums in a simple, seamless fashion.

The program can be executed and staffed by student intern volunteers, for example from the psychology and media departments conducting these videotaped interviews of alumni. And you could refer the more delicate end-of-life requests to LifeChronicles, which of course would do them at no charge for those who can’t afford it.

Among the benefits for the university are the alumni relations value of offering the Remarkable Lives videotaping service to alumni; plus the ability to use such a program to stimulate and promote increased interest and participation among your members (with its future fundraising implications) for the organization, and the halo-ing value of partnering with LifeChronicles and supporting it’s free service to terminal and dying individuals.

You could also have a ‘Remarkable Lives’ page on your alumni association’s website that contains an archive of video clips from the tapes done of alums. The clips could remain forever on the website as a permanent remembrance of the alum’s life and their lasting significance to the university. It would be a way for them to permanently save and pass along their memories and some of things they’ve learned in life.
